This growing field will revolutionize how we treat disease, taking into account the individual differences in a person’s genetic makeup, environment, and lifestyle. Researchers at Illinois are engaged in a number of precision medicine projects including creating code management software to improve emergency outcomes, creating dissolvable patches for intestinal repair, enhancing targeted drug delivery options, creating nanosensors for the detection of eye perforations, and more. These efforts are in line with President Obama’s Federal Precision Medicine Initiative, introduced in early 2015.

IHSI research development specialist Maggie Miller is leading the charge to help the precision medicine community find collaborators, partnerships, and resources. If you would like more information about this program area, contact Maggie today.
