IHSI’s Community-Academic Partnerships for Health core promotes community collaboration as the foundation for improving public health.

The Community-Academic Partnerships for Health core fosters research translation by:

  • Identifying and assessing opportunities for community-academic collaboration
  • Making connections and facilitating communication between community stakeholders and academic collaborators
  • Building capacity to address community needs through research

Our activities focus around the priority areas for Champaign County, as identified in the Community Health Improvement Plan (2018-2020):

  • Behavioral Health
  • Reducing Obesity and Promoting Healthy Lifestyles
  • Violence

Through a close partnership with the College of Education, we also focus activities at the intersection of education and health.
