COMMUNITY-ENGAGED PROGRAMS
We empower students, faculty, and community organizations to participate in community-academic partnerships. Our programs are designed to meet community needs by matching students with community-based projects. These experiences offer young leaders mentorship, training, and skill-development opportunities while making a positive impact in the community.
We CU Community Engaged Scholars
Service recognition program connecting community organizations with University of Illinois undergraduate and graduate students to meet the needs of the Champaign-Urbana community.
Community-Academic Scholars
Community-based summer research experience connecting undergraduate students with community-academic research teams. Research teams and students apply separately to join the program.
Community Seminar Series
Graduate students and postdoctoral research trainees develop and deliver educational seminars in response to community interests and needs.
MAYO CLINIC & ILLINOIS ALLIANCE EDUCATION PROGRAMS
The foundational educational opportunities offered by the Mayo Clinic & Illinois Alliance allow undergraduates, graduates, and professionals to gain hands-on experience in healthcare innovation.
Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program
Prestigious ten-week summer program hosted by Mayo Clinic with an Illinois student pre-selection process. Students work alongside Mayo Clinic mentors to conduct their own research or join an ongoing project.
Health Equity Research Experience (HERE)
New ten-week summer program for undergraduates at Mayo Clinic. Selected students have the opportunity to address health disparities within a supportive community of other undergraduates, including Illinois SURF, and receive support from a faculty mentor.
Fellowships for Technology-Based Healthcare
Unique graduate fellowship to advance individualized medicine and create a pathway for Illinois students to explore post-graduation employment opportunities at Mayo Clinic.
Computational Genomics Course
A week-long intensive course that integrates biology, computation, and genetics alongside the latest technologies and computational methodologies.
