NIH Grant Writing Series The Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Initiative (IHSI) is presenting a NIH Grant Writing Series at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The series is designed to help junior faculty prepare to write and submit strong R01 or other individual investigator proposals to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This intensive series will consist of 10 sessions, scheduled over 12 weeks during the fall 2015 semester.

From solicitation to submission of an NIH grant, senior faculty will share their expertise with their participating colleagues. Participants will write actual grant components and will receive one-on-one guidance from an experienced faculty member.

All faculty from the Urbana campus are eligible to apply with preference being given to junior faculty (years 2-4) who will be writing their first NIH R01 proposal. To apply, faculty must provide an abstract describing their research program, a current CV, and a letter of support from their department head. Nominations will also be requested from deans and department heads. Applications should be submitted to Margret Berg Miller at meberg@illinois.edu. The nomination deadline is August 1, 2015.

In the event that applications exceed availability, the IHSI Advisory Committee will use a merit selection process to select no more than 12 participants from the pool of applicants.
