New series continues to attract researchers across campus
Following the success of the inaugural series in Fall 2021, the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Institute is hosting its second Illinois REDCap Certificate Series this spring. The series provides a comprehensive and in-depth exploration of REDCap and how it can be used on campus.
Fifteen researchers were selected from more than 50 applicants to be part of the Spring 2022 REDCap Certificate Series cohort. By participating in four hands-on sessions, they will build the knowledge and skills they need to design, create, and manage advanced data collection projects in Illinois REDCap. Sessions explore the variety of ways they can use REDCap, the regulatory considerations that REDCap can address, and the Illinois REDCap features that can make data collection easier.
The series is hosted by Michelle Lore, IHSI REDCap Applications Specialist, and Heather Bernardo, IHSI Visiting REDCap Applications Specialist. “One of our big goals is to give people comfort with REDCap,” said Lore. “And if they have a new research question they can say ‘Oh, I think I might be able to do this in REDCap this way.’ We really want to empower people.”
Congratulations to the Spring 2022 cohort

Illinois REDCap team provides extensive support for users
Researchers across campus use Illinois REDCap for various types of data collection and management, and it has been an integral part of the SHIELD infrastructure over the past two years. The Illinois REDCap team helps researchers across the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus increase their understanding and use of Illinois REDCap. In addition to the certificate series, the team offers a variety of support services, including workshops in partnership with the University Library, virtual office hours, project build services, a monthly newsletter, online documents, checklists, how-tos, and videos, and complimentary consultations.
